PRECIOUS METAL
Artists are in danger when I’ve had two spritzes. I start questioning their work and insisting they try something new. There is still room for new work, and it hasn’t all been done. Even within your own practice, there is so much room for invention.
“Precious Metal” is about making the pieces that have been sitting in the back of artists’ minds, the ones they haven’t made time for. I invited artists to step slightly outside their usual practice and experiment, following impulses they might otherwise ignore. I deliberately left the artists’ names out to invite questions, feedback, and a bit of guessing. Each work has a through-line to the artist’s broader practice but sits slightly outside their usual oeuvre.
